2.2.5  Wild Woman

Photo of a drawing leaning against a tree. The drawing shows lines and patches of colors. It looks like an abstract woman.
Pic 2.36: "Wild Woman"

This piece was made using paint that i placed in water to make a liquid, I poured the cup of liquid on to the paper and tried to guide it whilst moving the paper round with both hands. I did the same procedure using different colors. The red dots on the paper were made using a piece of fabric, the brown lines were made using the running water and the blue dots were made using tissue paper which to me looked like flowers or possibly leaves. A day later I turned the paper several times to see what i could see in the painting. I saw a woman free and powerful.

I had never drawn the human body so perfect before, I outlined it with a black pen and used green paint to highlight the lines inside of the body which had disconnected different parts from each other. The hand and arm that I had tried to draw so many times in previous paintings and drawings was there staring at me all of sudden. I also found it special that the foot of the woman is so large and out of proportion to the rest of the body. The picture almost looks like an x-ray of the body. With this way of painting I can become aware of the potential of my own body and what I can do with it. It is allowing my mind to sail free on the ocean like a boat with no anchor. You could say the woman looks like a sculpture that is taken out of a rock to tell us a story. It is an interesting painting because it is a picture with many questions that we can ask ourselves:

«Why is the woman sitting on a bar?»
«What story is she telling?»
«Is she dressed, or not?»
«From which country is she coming?»
«Why has she got an old face and young body?»
«Are there more things hidden into the drawing that we cannot see at the moment?»

The picture measures 40cm by 30cm.
