2.2.4  Burn out

I took a piece of loschen paper and intended to draw a bowl of candles which i had previously seen at a church service with a blue and purple ink pen. After I had finished the drawing I noticed it had became abstract as I couldn’t draw depth in it.

The drawing was made from an experience i had seen at a church i visited, where all the people of the church had a candle each which they placed into a glass bowl of sand. I decided to make the drawing with loshen paper and an ink pen. I decided once the drawing was made to burn the edging of the paper and drop wax on top of the piece to symbolize the lit candles burning away in the drawing.

I also saw that back side of the paper another abstract drawing had come into existence, back and front were communicating with each other which I found remarkable, the conscious and the unconscious were visible at once. I then felt the need to burn the edges with the candle and dripped the wax over the painting. It was a joyful memory and enormous freedom.

It is difficult to draw an experience that is so beautiful and give it the same energy and beauty. I discovered that depth, light and shadow are essential in this drawing, I had never been conscious of that before and would like to research more in this field. I have decided to use the drawing anyway as I noticed that at the back side of the paper another abstract drawing had come into existence, back and front were communicating with each other which I found remarkable, the conscious and the unconscious were visible at once.

The Picture measures 35cm by 25cm.
