2.2 Let the Games Begin
One of the ways my abstract paintings come to life is through games I play and through direct experiences that I have in nature. Nature is symbolising freedom and playfulness, like flowers unfolding, animals playing. I see a woman appearing out of the flow of water mixed with paint. The speed of daily life doesn't allow us to be surprised by the simplicity of nature. But standing still and let your mind drift away, that is the moment when inspiration comes into play.
The tools that I use to paint are objects that I found in nature or objects in everyday life, everything except a normal paintbrush. These tools I use in a playful way. My focus is not on a technically perfect picture but much more on how the picture comes into existence. (February 2011)
